Since the creation of the then International Transport Law Centre – CEDIT (which is now a University Institute) fourteen years ago, I have been tackling with enthusiasm the arduous task of creating and consolidating a unique research centre in Spain, dedicated to the study of a topic that is crucial for both economic and social development, namely, transport. With this goal in mind, I have put a great deal of effort into combining the teaching and research activities typical of the university environment and the management of the Centre and all its activities, having occupied the Technical Secretariat until 2010.
Now, as Director, I take on the challenge of continuing along the path the Centre has followed over these past years, with the faithful commitment to promote and develop the lines of research and the goals that had been set since the foundation of the Centre and, above all, with the responsibility to continue to strive to achieve maximum excellence.
For this purpose, all the staff that make up the Institute remain will remain united in order to continue to achieve the aims and objectives that we have faithfully accomplished for years through all the initiatives developed, the International Transport Congresses, the reports that have been drawn up over the years, the research projects obtained and an endless number of activities that have allowed us to position ourselves as a leading research centre. It only remains for me to congratulate the researchers and collaborators for the work carried out and to urge them to continue investigating in this discipline that concerns us, because without them the challenge that we assumed years ago would not be possible today.
I cannot finish without expressing my gratitude for all the aid received to date from the foundations, companies and organisations that have supported us since the creation of the Centre and I invite them to continue with their sponsorship, while I am fully aware of the effort that this entails.
