VIII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TRANSPORT: TRANSPORT FACED WITH THE CHALLENGES OF TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND GLOBALIZATION
On 28, 29 and 30 September 2022, the eighth edition of the International Conference on Transport was held under the motto “Transport in the face of Technological Development and Globalisation”. The event was attended by leading Spanish and foreign specialists in the field. The event was directed by professors Mª Victoria Petit Lavall (Professor of Commercial Law at the Universitat Jaume I) and Achim Puetz (Professor of Commercial Law at the Universitat Jaume I). The scientific committee was headed by Professors Carmen Alonso Ledesma (Professor of Commercial Law at the Complutense University of Madrid) and Leopoldo Tullio (Professor of Navigation Law at Sapienza, Università di Roma). The Congress was attended by more than 120 people.
A total of 25 lectures were given during the Congress, grouped into 6 round tables: “Automation of transport and liability”, “Contracts of carriage and technological innovation”, “The effects of the pandemic on the liberalization of transport”, “Air and land transport: what’s new?”, “Current issues of maritime law” and “The reform of maritime and port law”.
A total of 38 papers were also defended, many of which competed for the VII Awards for the best papers. The award-winning speakers were Eduardo Miranda Ribera, with his paper on “The implementation of blockchain technology in the maritime transport of goods: challenges and opportunities”; Eduardo Herrero Urtueta, with the paper “The impact of autonomous vehicles on contracts for the carriage of goods by road” and Itziar Villafáñez Pérez, whose paper was on “Platform cooperatives in the field of transport. Some legal issues” .
The results of this Congress are expected to be published in a collective work published by Editorial Colex, due to be launched later this year.
